An Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is a fundamental part of an organization’s risk management strategy. Implementing an OHSMS enables an organization to:
- Protect its workforce and others under its control
- Comply with legal requirements
- Facilitate continual improvement
ISO 45001 can be aligned with other management systems standards, such as ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. ISO 45001 will be published by the end of Q1 2018.
ISO 45001:2018 specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, and gives guidance for its use, to enable organizations to provide safe and healthy workplaces by preventing work-related injury and ill health, as well as by proactively improving its OH&S performance.
An effective occupational health and safety management system will help you to protect and enhance your most important asset, your people, to drive business excellence.

This qualification is for people pursuing a career in OSH in a variety of sectors and for those already working in the profession who have some responsibility for OSH in their role. You may be working as a supervisor, manager, team leader or preparing to work at this level.

Successful completion of the certificate meets the academic requirements for IOSH Technical Membership (TechIOSH).
